The 1975 U/Tex Weavers season was the maiden season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)
Early Roots
- Universal Textiles, owned by Walter Euyang, was one of the three founding members of the PBA, along with Crispa and Tanduay, which roots can be traced back in the minor league called Businessman Athletic Association (BAA), which is competing with the more established MICAA during the 1950s/1960s, In 1961, Universal Textiles enter the big-time basketball scene in the MICAA as U/Tex Spinners, notable names as early U/Tex players were Teodoro Arriola, Nap Flores and Reynaldo Arenas, and reinforcements Lowery Kirk and William Koehler.
- In the 1970s, U/Tex, now known as Weavers, became a familiar fixture in the MICAA with bigger names joining the team such as Danny Florencio, Larry Mumar and Rudolf Kutch, when the PBA was formed in 1975, U/Tex was among the nine teams that bolted out of the MICAA.
